Jeff Sutherland: Why you should use Scrum
Jeff  is the Co-Creator of Scrum and was a signer of the Agile Manifesto, which marked the start of the Agile movement. He has served as VP of Engineering or CTO at eleven different software companies, managing the last seven entirely using Scrum, and achieved industry-leading, hyper-productive results. At the GOTO Night, Jeff Sutherland will share his experience and answer questions from the audience.

Rune Lippert: Restarting Scrum at Jyllands-Posten
Rune Lippert is head of the commercial development department at the biggest Danish Newspaper Jyllands-Posten in Aarhus. He has been working as a ScrumMaster and Product Owner with distributed and local Scrum teams. He has been spearhead of a process at Jyllands-Posten, changing development method from something that looks like Scrum, but doesn’t work, to a smooth running and highly successful Agile department, using Scrum. As a result the commercial development department, is now being expanded with more developers and 2 new teams.

For more then 2 years, the team used Scrum as development method at Jyllands-Posten. In that time, the team struggled with problems like:

  • Lack of ownership in the team
  • Buggy software
  • Features that was almost done, but not completely.
  • A group of stakeholders, which they all ways had to apologies to.
  • No predictability

In the spring of 2011, the team regrouped, looked at their process, and changed the way they where using Scrum. The result was a great success, almost from day one. They have gained a lot of insight into the small details that can make the difference between succeeding with Scrum and failing.

In this short talk, Rune will try to present what was changed, and what they learned by regrouping, and restarting the scrum process.

After the Q&A session drinks and snacks will be served. Join us and meet other Scrum users and experts from and around Zürich!
